International Women Day celebrated on the 8th of March every year may be controversially called international as the tradition to celebrate this day does not exist internationally.

Historically this day had political motive. All was initiated in March of 1857 when women workers of textile mill marched through Manhattan demanding higher wages, better working conditions and equal rights for women. Though demonstration was dispersed it made a stir and the firs labor union where women participated was established and this day was called Women’s Day.

In 1908 on the last Sunday of February thousands of American women went out to the streets of New York City with the same demands. This demonstration was timed to Women’s Day of 1857. The Demonstration was broke up again. Next 1909 Women Day was marked with women marches and strikes again.

In 1910 year such strikes were organized all over the country and later the same year on the first international women's conference held in Copenhagen where German socialist Clara Zetkin inspired by success of American companions-in-arms offered that women all over the world would choose a particular day when they would attract the public eye to their needs and demands. More than 100 women from 17 countries participating in conference seconded her and the International Day of Women solidarity in Fight for Economical, Political and Gender Equality was proclaimed. But the particular date was not specified.

First time this day was marked on March 19 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Next year this day was marked on March 12. And only since 1914 spontaneously this day started to be marked on March 8.
In Russia this day was annually celebrated since 1913 and in 1917 on this day women went out to strike against the war. Thus this day was a kind of twist-type trigger of the October Revolution. Since the beginning of Soviet Union existence the 8th of March became the official holyday. In 1965 it was declared as official day off and up nowadays it is an official holyday in many post Soviet countries including Kyrgyzstan.

In 1977 UN adopted resolution 34/142 calling for all countries to declare the 8th of March as the day of fighting for women’s rights.

On my behalf I want to add:
Dear Men it so easy to make a woman happy. Take care of her and don’t be shy to show your feelings.
Dear Ladies. Don’t be greedy giving your love! Remember! The more you give, the more you get.

Yesterday I tried without the apostrophe, but it wasn't working...but I made the order just the same, beacause I needed that component (It seems very useful for me!). Maybe I will take the chance for a discount on my next order! Cool

Thank you!
