Great feature that allow multi type sections. Of course it is not for everyone and require some understanding and experience with Resources but if you very, very need it at least it is there. The main idea was to allow to select few types in submission parameters and set category limit for every type to protect content type submission to wrong category. That is this simple, but require some configuration for section an understanding how filters works.
Another feature – Universal layout was deleted. Hmm? Deleted? Is it feature if you delete something? Of course not. But user menu come to its place. New user menu parameter slider in section will allow you to manage user’s access to private information. It means that to see favorite, rated, visited, … records of current section, user will be able right here, inside this section.
Advantages is that you do not need to create user menu link to every section and that may be long list. For example we have 10 sections. And in 7 of them I want users to see favorites, commented, created, last visited. It is 7 *4 = 28 menu elements to universal layout. Hard for user. Now none. User see those links right inside section.
Another advantage that user may filter and search through those record lists. If I have 100 favorites I can quickly find what I need.
Also you can set to menu different template. Resources released with 3 of them Default, Milkyway, Rounded. And another good news that Title of the section now rendered in menu template. So you can change how section title created for every section separately by creating custom templates.
Another trick which I will write later in developer center how to combine Filter and menu templates in one block.
BTW Konstantin printed feature lists on 30 A4 sheets which we are going to discuss Monday. It is despite about the same list in our task manager, which is partiality done of course. On one hand it is discouraging. The more tasks the later release. On other hand more tasks greater release. and it is hard to find the middle, because we do not want to delay to long and we do not want to release short of new features.
