Membership Upgrade instructions

In order to upgrade your Membership component to the latest version, take the following steps:

  1. Back up your Membership's files.
  2. Check the version of Membership that you are currently running. It can be checked in the Mighty Membership->About section.
  3. Install the com_jcs.update.from.v.2.0.to.v.2.x.x.zip file. Choose either com_jcs.update.from.v.2.0.to.v.2.x.x.zip for PHP4 or com_jcs.update.from.v.2.0.to.v.2.x.x.zip for PHP5,  which ever php version your server is currently running.
  4. Install SQL Patches which versions are higher than the version of your old Membership. For example, if before upgrade you were running Membership v2.2 and now you want to upgrade to v2.5.3, then you need to install SQL Patches v2.3, v2.3.2, v2.4, v2.4.6, 2.5.1 and v2.5.3.
  5. Upgrade Plugin - Content Controller and Plugin - Component Controller
  6. If you're using any of our payment plugins, please check if yours are of the latest versions. If they are not, please upgrade them. Versions of payment plugins can be checked in Extensions->Install/Uninstall->plugins
  7. Re-save the Membership configuration page.
  8. If your old Membership’s version was lower than v2.2, re-save all your subscription plans.
  9. The upgrade is finished!

Update component tips

One of the system requirements for Mighty Extensions components is FTP mode set up properly.
You can find FTP mode settings in joomla Global Configuration -> tab Server -> FTP settings.

FTP mode must be enabled and well configured, i.e. you need to indicate the same ftp user as all the files and folders of your joomla project have. If you indicate a wrong FTP user then you may get a lot of errors during components installation/update. For instance:

"Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package."

Thus before installation/update of any component you need to make sure that:

- FTP mode is ON in joomla Global Configuration.

- Correct (see above) FTP user is set in FTP mode settings.

Update component instruction

To update any MightyExtensions component you need to:

  • Find out the current version of the component. To do it, please check the component's "About" page.
  • Go to update & release log and in filter choose component you want to update. You need to overview update logs between component version you have and the latest one.
  • Every new update has a version. You need to install latest component update packages only. It is usually something like com_***.update.from.v.1.0.to.v.2.5.zip where *** is the component's name.
Note!!! You do not need to install every component update, just the latest one.
  • Download and install each sql-patch between component version you have and the latest one.
  • Find out which component's modules and plugins were updated as well. Install latest versions of modules and plugins.

Important!!! Never update a component using General component installation archive

How to translate component

Note that the language package you wish to translate has to be installed in Joomla.

  1. In component's archive find the file languages/site(administrator)/en-GB/en_GB.com_***.ini file, where *** is the component name.
  2. Rename it to, say, ru-RU.com_***.ini or de-DE.com_**.ini according to your language.
  3. Modify this file in the notepad or other text editor that allows saving in UTF8 charset
  4. Save with UTF8 charset
  5. Upload through FTP into Joomla root/languages/

If you have text on the front-end that is not translated or you just want to change it, do the following :

  1. Copy it
  2. Open your translated file on your server
  3. Paste it into the file end as a new line and make all the letters in uppercase.
  4. Type '=' sign on the right of the line and type the desirable translation(TEXT=your translation).
  5. Save the file
