We released Mighty Resources v1.5!

We released Mighty Resources 1.5! Isn’t it a great news? New Mighty Resources leaves all competitors far away behind as it is the most advanced and powerful CCK component in Joomla! world today.

Mighty Resources is the oldest component in its sphere and though the version of release is just 1.5 it means only that we released every version upgrading gradually from 1.0 to 1.1, 1.2 and so on.

This release is the very significant for Joomla! Community as you will not find any component that unifies that much features as Mighty Resources v1.5 does.

First we want to make our clients glad because we made new Mighty Resources v1.5 fully front-end oriented. Though it had already frontend features now its frontend functionalities are countless.

1. Tools

Finally section tools contains something. There is only one tool plug-in but it contains few tools.

Clean SEF Links – In 1.5 SEF is optimized. To optimize it we store some URLs in DB because it is quicker to get it from DB than construct it every time.
Clean Cache – Cleans cache or articles, filters, etc. You can apply it if you have changed something and want it to become immediately available.
Clean Sessions – delete sessions. It is not only to delete sessions but also to optimize session table in DB as you know it often gets overhead.
Move/Delete User – sometimes when you delete user from user manager you meet the problem that records user created or user activities or whatever can produce even fatal errors. This tool provides a way to correctly delete or move user and/or his stuff.
Calculator – Recalculates numbers in DB. Useful to run sometimes when Resources shows wrong numbers.
Archive/Unarchive – mass, date based Archive, Publish, Unpublish function
Pack Section – Great feature. This tool creates standard Joomla Installation package that includes your section categories, all related types and fields, demo content if you wish and all content related things like pictures, votes, etc... It may also pack your custom templates for particular types and more. You can distribute it and share with other members. Or you can load packs of others to your site. Ready configured forums, support desks, galleries, properties, ….
Later we will produce some official Mighty packs for most popular instances of Resources usage like Downloads, Gallery, Multi User Blog, and more...

2. Filters

Optimization – it takes a lot of server resources to get all possible values and data and the more records, more it takes. We added optimization for filters. It initializes once and then just displays.
Hide Filter – feature may hide filter from filter bar but field keeps working as a filter. It is needed for example if you have too many values in the field. And looking for required value in dropdown list or list of checkboxes in filter bar is useless in this case. But user may click on the field value and get this filter applied.
Better Search – in older version all filters you used searched using LIKE. But now every filter uses it own sign (=, >, <, …) for more accurate and quick search because LIKE uses more server resources.
Filter numbers – now shows number of records depending on user profile, filter mode, … In simple language it means that your users will very rarely click on filter with number (5) and get empty list. Though it is not yet 100% dynamic.
Modified Templates – all filter templates modified and look much better now.

3. Templates

Default table template now allows to sort not by every field but by every field that is marked as Sortable in field parameters.
New template group “User Menu”. This template includes management of Title of the section.

4. Logics of Section types Public, Personal and Mixed

Public mode allows to users to submit content only to categories created by administrator. Thus all items submitted by different users are shown in categories.
Personal or user listing mode will generate all links to articles as personal. It means that in bread crumbs you will see Menu>>Section>>User name>>User Category>>Article Title. When user adds any content item it is added to his personal category and thus content is categorized and shown by users.
Mixed – In mixed mode there is a mixture of categories created by administrator and users categories. When user adds content item he adds it to public and his own category and item is visible both in category and on personal user’s page.

5. Multi type sections

Submit many types to one section

6. Compare Records

Compare actually is a special Horizontal Table template that allows to see records in compare view. You can set this template even into section and users will list records in that view. The only difference is that in this mode filter box and pagination are turned off.

Moderator are automatically alerted on activity in the section according to access assigned

10. Alert System

Send alerts immediately or by cron to speed up site work

11. Tag system

Allow adding tags to record for non-authors
Add tags using AJAX technology. Adding is easy, quick and simple
Add tags on record creation or edit suggest tags you ever used
Tag cloud calculation mode improved. Highlight tags by logic instead of randomly.

When tag selected, it is added to meta keywords
All tags as link though work as filters for SE access

12. Backend

New record status filter to show features or expired records
Features sign quickly set/unset record to be featured

13. Other

Access to view and edit/submit fields by Karma points of Mighty Touch.
User may hide/unhide records
User may make record featured.
User may see expired records and prolong if needed.
Record list XML format. This is a great way to access your articles. If anyone wants to integrate with you or get your articles with properties than you may use or suggest to use XML format. To access any list in XML format add to any URL parameters &format=feed&type=xml.

Category count records in category and its subcategories depending on Records Mode section parameter.
RSS feed ordering parameter. To choose between created or modified date.

14. Fixed

Loss of ordering on article edit
Filter search for similar words like “Open”, “Unopen”
Mass Filed Edit highlight default value on fields. Now all fields have no value on load.
