It looks like that there's problems with ftp settings of you joomla project. Please enable ftp mode in joomla global configuration. Plesae make sure that you set the same ftp user as ftp user which was used during joomla installation.

I suddenly remove your comment:

"FTP is disabled by default and I always load all extensions without problems. Anyway I tried to enable FTP in Global Configuration, but I received this error:
* JFTP:: write: Bad response
* JFTP:: delete: Bad response
* JFTP:: write: Bad response
Message: An Error has occurred! Unable to open configuration.php file to write!

Using an FTP program such as Dreamweaver, can I manually load the contents of the folder unzipped com_resource?
In that case:
Shall I rename the admin folder as com_resource and put it in public_html/administrator/components?
Shall I rename the site folder as com_resources and put it in public_html/components?
I have to put the language files in folders correspondents?
Where should I put com_resource.xml and install.resource.php?
Thanks for an answer."

If you can not ebale ftp mode then it means that server settings does not allow you to do that. Ask hoster about this problem, please.

>> Shall I rename the admin folder as com_resource and put it in public_html/administrator/components?

You need upload all files and folders from 'admin' to /public_html/administrator/components

>> Shall I rename the site folder as com_resources and put it in public_html/components?

You need upload all files and folders from 'site' to /public_html/components

>> I have to put the language files in folders correspondents?

yes it's right. Please upload language files to corresponding folders.

>>Where should I put com_resource.xml and install.resource.php?

you need upload all files as described above.

Thank you.

Very clear, but for the com_resource.xml and install.resource.php files.

In the com_resource.4.7.zip there are:

an admin folder: I will put his content in public_html/administrator/components
a languages folder: I will put his content  in correspondent language folders
a site folder: I will put his content in public_html/components

But where shall I put
com_resource.xml

and
install.resource.php

files
that are outside of these folders?

Thanks again.

You need not upload any other files, i.e. com_resource.xml and install.resource.php are used to install component you need not upload them anywhere.

Thank you very much.

Just to be sure and not waste any more time:
correct directories where to put content are:

/public_html/administrator/components/com_resources
and
/public_html/components/com_resources

Right?

Thanks

I uploaded everything and I got this message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '.' in / home / sharingc / public_html / administrator / components / com_resource / library / helper.php on line 770
Moreover, the language files are not text, but terminal documents.
I really wanted to install your extension, and even subscribe.
My server (joomlapolis hosting) says that FTP works.
In fact, I easily installed through the admin panel of Joomla, with FTP disabled, the second file com_resource.sql-patch.IP2Country.zip. Without difficulty.
Is there a solution
? Or should I give up?
Thanks

I finally managed to enable the FTP that is now on.
I uploaded the extension through the panel administrator joomla and I still get this error:

        * JFolder:: files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
        * JFolder:: folder: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
        * JFolder:: files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
        * Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

It is therefore not a problem of FTP which works perfectly with all other extensions.

Is there a solution?

Thanks

I have the same problem for quite a while now. I have been manually upgrading Resources for 2 months now because of this problem. I tried everything, including all possible FTP settings. But the problem is persistent, even with fresh Joomla installation. I tried with different hosting companies on both Plesk and DirectAdmin servers, but always this error.

  • JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
  • JFolder::folder: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
  • JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
  • Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

Unable to find install package

Could you please look into this? I will provide login details for a fresh (!) joomla installation so you can see it yourself.

I am working on this problem. If you still have fresh instalation to check Please provide. Also I need FTP as I need to change some core Jomla files to make errors more informative.

Hello,

it's server ftp problem. I have installed via "Install from Directory". Check your project please.

Ok, very weird though as this happens on 2 entirely different servers and extensions from all other parties install correctly. Only the resources extension gives this error. I've tried all possible FTP settings already.

But ok if I can install via "Install from directory" then the problem is solved for me, thank for having a look.

Hi,

I just tried installing at another site through install from URL (http://www.mightyextensions.com//index2.php?option=com_resource&task=download&no_html=1&file=3901).

Same error:

  • JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
  • JFolder::folder: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
  • JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
  • Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

As far is I know this does not involve FTP so I think it's not a server FTP problem is it?

Regards,

Koen
