Optimize URLs of images (for SEO) and improve alt-tag Send Print

Hi,

Google Images is a very underestimated source of traffic for websites. For Google Images, it is very important that the name and alt-tag of an image reflects the content of it.

Currently, the URLs of Mighty Resources image fields look like this

index2.php?option=com_resource&task=show_file&id=3617&type=thumbnail_article

It would be great if there was an option to change the URL into either the Article Title, a pre-set keyword, or/and the orginal name of the image. If necessary, you can still include ID in it to make traceback possible.

So then an image would for example be named:

/thumbnail_article/[ID]/[ARTICLE-TITLE]-[KEYWORD].jpg

And then it would also be great if those keywords could be added to the "Alt" tag.

Thanks,

Koen

Yes, Yes and one more time Yes. I wish a normal url for picture from version 1.4. And here in Feat. Requests are some requests for this.

How do you do in case an image belongs to several articles?

@jacques I think in that case the image could have multiple URLs. Which would be good from a SEO point of view actually, because you optimize it on each page according to the content of that page.

Another option might be to disable the [ARTICLE-TITLE] part of the url when an image is used in multiple articles.
